At Home Dry Cleaning

I would like to clean my suits at home. What do you recommend?

Thank author of this post/commentHere are the solvents you can mess with at home! Yeah! Right!

* Perchloroethylene — Most common solvent, known more commonly as "Perc", the "standard" for cleaning performance, and most aggressive cleaner (use caution, may cause color bleeding/loss, especially at higher temperatures).

* High flash point hydrocarbons DF-2000 (140°F/60°C flash point) — Slightly less flammable and explosive than Stoddard solvent, not as effective as perchloroethylene.

* Modified hydrocarbons blends (Pure Dry)

* Glycol ethers (dipropylene glycol tertiary-butyl ether) (Rynex) — not as effective as perchloroethylene.

* Cyclic Silicone decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, GreenEarth — not as aggressive as perchloroethylene. Gentler cleaning through lowest surface tension of current solvents. Cost per gallon is similar to perc in most states with environmental surcharges. Solvent mileage higher than perc and hydrocarbon products. Requires a license be obtained to utilize the intellectual property of GreenEarth Cleaning. Degrades within days in the environment to SiO2 ( sand ), CO2 , and H2O.

* Liquid CO2 — Consumer Reports rated this method superior to even conventional methods; machinery is very expensive. Most cleaners with these machines keep traditional machines on-site for the heavier soiled textiles. Not good for use on smoke or water damaged textiles.

* Drysolv - New solvent from Dry Cleaning Technologies. Enviromentally safe, 30 minute cycles dry to dry. IFI claims it cleans better than Perc.

Thank author of this post/commentIs it not easier just to take it to the cleaners?

Maybe... but I personally like to do things like that myself

That is true, if you can do stuffs all by yourself then why not do it, right? But if you think it is beyond what you know, research on that. And if still researching would do no good then that is the time that you seek for some help. Like in this case, if you can remove the stain all by yourself, much better, if you cannot then pass the job to the cleaners as Rob suggested.
