| Yahoo! Answers: Why were people so formal and socially conservative looking in t I look at photos taken in the 1950s and the early 1960s and everyone is so dressed up even on weekdays. Why was this? Today, wearing a collared shirt where I live is the equivalent of putting on a black tie. Why were people so concerned with short hair, tailored suits and clean-shaven faces fifty years ago and today people are so much more casual? Was this evidence of the horrible repression that took place before the emergence of the counter culture of the late 1960s. |
